New Vision & Quest Rigging
The HSC Co-op just keeps getting better!
Hello Co-op Sailors:
Both Quests are back in action - ready for their next quest with you! Due to the popularity of the jib sock on Whitecap, Lightning will also be getting one installed soon. WIth a jib sock, you will leave the jib rigged all of the time, and must furl it (using the furling line). Please don't de-tension the rig (it will be buried under the furled jib). The jib sock has its own halyard - hook the snap shackle to the large ring on the mast at eye level when you go out sailing. Uncleat the furling line, pull on the sheets and the jib will unfurl. See pictures below. The other end of the halyard gets sucked into the mast with a super-cool bungie system. Bond. James Bond.
The Vision spinnaker has been repaired, and the Vision also now has a jib sock! The jib sock has its own halyard and fairlead cleat. The jib stays rigged on the boat - rigging the Vision has never been easier! Hook the snap shackle to the reefing hook on the boom when you go out sailing. For de-rigging, furl the jib (using the furling line), raise (and zip up) the jib sock, and you're done! See pictures below.
The Vision spinnaker hoisting/dowsing system is not as sophisticated or smooth as the Quest - it's an older design. Be patient with it (that's how the head of the sail got torn off). Unlike the Quest, there is a bowsprit retrieval line (white) on the starboard side of the cockpit near the mast step. The bowsprit doesn't always come in all the way when the spinnaker is dowsed - this line should help. See picture below.
Class dismissed! The Co-op now has nine sailboats to choose from. Amazing!
