GVRD Stage 3 Water Restrictions at HSC.

Hollyburn Sailing Club has implemented new procedures to comply with stage 3 water restrictions.

All members are responsible for following these rules.

Stage 3 Water Restrictions at HSC:

General: Fresh water rinsing of hulls, paddles, and sails is now prohibited. Fresh water barrels will be in place for selective rinsing of safety critical parts. Showers remain fully operational, but members are asked to conserve water and limit their time in the showers.  . Please ensure to rinse sand from feet in the water bath near the stairs before having a shower.

The following restrictions are in place during Stage 3 water restrictions at HSC:

1. No fresh water rinsing of equipment

   - No washing of boats (hulls, sails, paddles, etc.) is permitted. Hose stations are turned off.

   - Please use a salt water rinse on the ramp to get sand off before bringing equipment that has been on the beach up to the yard.

2. Fresh water rinse barrels for safety critical parts

   - HSC will set up two fresh water barrels in the compound (see photos below). These are for members to use for rinsing safety-critical parts (blocks, shackles, pins, foils, etc.) Members are encouraged to use a damp rag on any safety-critical parts that are fixed on their boats and will not fit in the barrel. Note that HSC is not providing sponges or rags, so please remember to bring your own.

3. Safety rinsing of coach boats

   -  Coaches and JTP instructors are allowed to use water within the Metro Vancouver guidelines to maintain the coaching zodiacs (engine flushing and essential maintenance only). They will periodically be turning on the water hose to undertake this maintenance. Members should not request to use hoses to rinse equipment when the coaches or HSC staff are, as this is a restricted activity.

4. Ramp Maintenance

   - HSC will continue to pressure wash boat ramps as required to ensure safety of members using the ramp.

5. Showers

-Indoor showers are open and available for members to use. Members are asked to be respectful of water usage while using the showers. As always, we ask that members take all steps to limit the amount of sand that is tracked into the clubhouse or bathrooms. Please rinse your feet.  No rinsing of equipment is allowed in showers.

HSC Executive thanks members for their cooperation in complying with the water restriction regulations now in place in the District of West Vancouver.
