 Speaker Series: Wednesday, June 8th 7:30 pm,  She-Ra Solo Skipper Lars Zika – Solo across the Bering Sea & more!

Come down to the club Wednesday night, June 8th, for a deck-side chat with Lars Zika,  skipper of She-Ra, a 62’ CNB you may have noticed around the harbour in the last few months.  Lars, originally from Switzerland, set out from Bangkok and headed east.  He had some adventures off the coast of South Korea and literally got into “hot water”.  She-Ra rescued a Russian ship and had to ask nicely to be allowed into to bring it into Vladivostok – luckily this was before the events that have shaken the world this year!  Lars also has high level yacht racing experience and can give the wannabe-racers some insight into the world of international yacht racing.  Paddlers and sailors all welcome!

Light refreshments will be served but BYOD.

Note: She-Ra, the Malamute for whom Lars’s vessel is named (and whose profile graces its sails), will also be there to meet you.  Dogs are not normally allowed at the club but the Executive is making a special exception for a very well-behaved “sailor dog”.  She-Ra comes from a long line of prize Malamute sled dogs and is used to celebrity treatment (and also doesn’t like to be left alone!)
