2023 HSC Awards!

Canada Day Club Championships Regatta Mattias Moberg-Parker

Don and Jennifer were two of the most consistent regatta attendees.

Heather Drugge. Heather also recieved a gift card.

The Waszp. Matt Humer, Jonah McKinnon and Dion Roseman
-Instrumental in acquiring our first foiling boat, the Waszp in which over 60 club members have now tried

Heitor - raced lasers in spring, trained hard in the wazsp and raced 29er’s in the fall. Helped coach waszp demo days and was a volunteer anytime he wasn’t sailing. He also gets a gift card.

3 nominees - the floor votes for the winner!

While there were several minor contenders this year, we tend to favor nominees that do damage to either the boat or themselves.

1: Grant Lamont – twisted ankle on the ramp while recovering his boat in big waves (photographic evidence below)

2: Tom Sluyter – sliced his foot open on the foil while sailing the Waszp. Still managed to do Race Committee by wearing special boots.

Travis to Port, Tom to Starboard. (his foot is much better now)

3: Travis Lyne – forgot drain plug, boat almost sank during racing, damage to boat while recovering on ramp.

The winner by the vote of the membership, Travis Lyne!

-Provided several sessions on how to rig all the co-op boats

Kayaker of the Year (should be paddler of the year)

Leni Corin & France Larouche

-Completed the 70/48 race (70 miles within 48 hours) Leni and France did the 70 miles in only 16 hours, From Tacoma to Port Townsend, by human power only

Dion Roseman

Funded the Waszp program as well as a windfoiling program for HSC sailors and other programs.

Outstanding effort with membership, going above and beyond to introduce new members to the club. Jen also gets a gift card.

Johnston-Hough Award for Outstanding Service

-Took on some big tasks including HSC 2nd floor replacement, 2nd floor painting, camera installation, 1st floor lighting, Fall Cleanup and many other building tasks. Dave also gets a gift card.
