Wooden Boat Show “Sails” under sunny skies!

Mike and his “Prince William Sound Yawl”, design by Philip C. Bolger.

Thank you everyone, today's boat show was probably the best ever. We had great volunteer help to set up everything this morning and the day just kept getting better and better. There were lots of visitors throughout the day and the weather was great, hot but not too hot.

A lot of the credit goes to Dave and Jonathan whose suggestion to bring all of the activities down into the yard area was key to the success of the show. The constant activity in the yard, right next to the gate, encouraged passers by to come see what was happening. We will continue to do that.

Wooden Kayaks, Canoes, Double Paddle Canoes, Cruising Sailboat and a Dinghy line the pedestrian path in front of the club. (with a few double paddles at the entrance to the club.)

Another big thank you goes to Mike whose efforts produced about half the boats on show., and what beautiful boats they were. The multi wood type kayaks were stunning jewels of wood craftsmanship and having them out in the lane together with the great looking sailboats got peoples attention and interest in the activities inside the yard.

Mike’s Double Paddle Canoe, “Apricity, a Nick Schrade “Nymph” design.

Dave manninig the grill.

Our cooks, Dave and Don, served 160  hotdogs today and had people queuing up for their tasty treats, thanks guys, you are booked for next year.

Kids boat building.

The kids boat building was also a great success. After a casual "can I do anything" by Tatiana and Valerie and sons, they sorted out three boxes of jumbled boat painting supplies and assisted about 30 kids to produce some really great looking toy boats. A huge, huge  thank you to both of you. (email not known)

Doug’s Scout and our band, “You Can Uke Too”.

The band was, as always, just great, creating a very happy atmosphere for the day, love those old songs. Thanks Steve for organizing it.

Wooden Boats and member’s art…a great combination.

And a big thank you to everyone else who showed their boats, showed their art, or just volunteered their support throughout the day, and put everything away again afterwards. We have a truly great club.
