Sailing Races - General Instructions
Unless otherwise stated in sailing instructions, the following will apply:
- Rules
- All races shall be sailed under the 2004 International Sailing Federation Rules, as well as these instructions and any class rules that are applicable and not in conflict.
- Amendments to these instructions may be made by announcing them in the sailing instructions and/or at the skippers’ meeting on the day on which they shall take effect.
- Schedule
- The schedule posted on the notice board will be the “official” schedule and it is considered part of these instructions.
- The schedule will be divided into the following four classes:
- Class “R” – Regattas (major)
- Class “A” – Formal trophy/championship races
- Class “B” – Major (seasonal) series
- Class “C” – Monthly series, practice/novice races.
- Courses
- The course diagrams in the Yearbook are considered part of these instructions.
- Twice around will be signaled by code flag “T”.
- The Start
- Races will be started in accordance with rule 26.1 system 2. The starting countdown sequence will be 4-2-0 as follows:
- Horn and red flag (warning) - 5:00 min
- Horn and Blue Peter Flag raised - 4:00 min
- Blue Peter Flag lowered - 1:00 min
- Red Flag lowered and Start Horn - 0:00 min
- Separate starts will be determined at the skippers’ meeting
- A yacht will not start later than 10 minutes after her starting signal
- The starting line shall be a line between an orange mark and the “R.C.” flag on the race committee boat or station.
- Recalls
- Individual recalls will be signaled in accordance with rule 29.2 for all events.
- General recalls will be signaled in accordance with rule 29.3 for all events.
- Rule 30.1, the “One Minute Rule” shall apply on all recalled starts.
- The Finish
- The finish line shall be between an orange mark and a blue flag on the race committee boat or station.
